Natural and Organic Skincare Products and What They Can Do For You
August 20, 2009 by admin
Once upon a time the business of shopping was very simple, but now it seems that purchasing even the most everyday of products requires a long period of squinting at a big list printed in small font, trying to remember whether parabens were good or bad, essential oils to be avoided or welcomed, ginger extract suitable for muscle cramps or not.
Unlike natural and organic skincare products, many of the intensively branded, expensively marketed, high profile products subsidise their marketing budgets by using liberal quantities of chemicals and synthetics, often to extent a products lifespan (allowing the shipping between factory and shop shelf to be unhurried) or to perfume a product that would otherwise smell of burning plastic or chemical death.
Whilst analogies between the food industry and the skin care industry are not perfect – after all, one does not have to be a incurable cynic to suggest that some of the big brand food manufactures out there use more dubious ingredients than we might like – what is certainly true is that the privileging of organic, or at least relatively additive free foods has not entirely crossed over in consumer’s attitudes toward skincare.
This is crazy, because our body absorbs around sixty percent of everything that we place on our skin, meaning that ingredients in our creams and lotions become just as cosy to us as the food we eat.
For this reason more and more people are turning their attention away from the well advertised, but not entirely beneficially constructed, big brands and taking the time to find out about the benefits of various natural and organic ingredients. Whereas a couple of years there was the assumption that the more ingredients a product had contained within it the better it was for us, now the tide is shifting, and many of us are aware that a well produced and packaged product consisting of a few genuinely beneficial natural or organic products can far better meet the needs of our skin than it’s chemically cousins.
An example of a fantastic natural skin product is Scin Boutique’s very own This Works Deep Calm Bath and Shower Gel. Rather than other, non natural shower gels that we can choose to lather onto our body, our This Works products work their magic thanks to the fantastic natural properties of the plants that we use as ingredients. In the case of our Deep Calm shower gel, lavender – grown at high altitude in France – is used for its antibacterial properties, as well as for its calming and relaxing scent.
In addition wild camomile, grown in Morocco, is used in combination with vetivert for their calming and soothing properties (anyone who has ever enjoyed a cup of camomile tea will attest to its relaxing properties).
Another great body wash on the market which utilizes the power of natural ingredients is the Green People Nourishing Body Wash.
This product uses ylang ylang and ginger for their natural uplifting properties, and avoids parabens and other artificial fragrances that can lead to the ‘chemical cocktail’ – the unpleasant thought of many different chemicals penetrating and remaining in our bodies.

Gibraltar is connected to Spain by a ferry to Morocco and flights to London. The border with Spain is open 24 hours a day, and you can drive or walk in with no restriction on the number of border crossings in a day. It is located at the entrance of the Mediterranean.
Gibraltar is a duty free and VAT free a shoppers paradise and offers duty free goods despite changes elsewhere in Europe. Main Street, Gibraltar s principal shopping thoroughfare, runs almost the length of town. Turn off Main Street into the little lanes and alleys and there are even more shops. Items to look out for include fine glassware, leather goods, perfumes, silks jewellery, both precious and semi-precious, porcelain, and cashmere.
Prices at the airport, for tobacco and spirits, are among the least expensive in the world.
If you enjoy good food and drink, you will love Gibraltar s cafe society and dining. There is an amazing choice of places to eat and drink. French, Moroccan Italian, Indian, English, Spanish and Peking are just some of the options on the menus of the first class restaurants.
There are no shortages of places to go in the evening in Gibraltar. The hotel cocktail bars offer comfortable and sophisticated surroundings for a quiet drink or, for a more informal evening, almost every street in town has lively cosmopolitan pubs and wine bars. Later you might dance into the small hours at one of Gibraltars nightclubs or enjoy a flutter at the Casino.
For such a small destination, visitors are pleasantly surprised to hear that Gibraltar has six beaches around its shoreline. Four of these, Eastern Beach, Sandy Bay, Western Beach, and the picturesque village of Catalan Bay.
The tailless Barbary apes that have inhabited the notorious Apes Den halfway up the rock since before the Moorish invasion were on the point of extinction in 1944. Churchill took charge and ordered fresh stock to be brought in from North Africa. His plan was so effective that today the enthusiastic breeding by the monkeys and resultant population explosion is causing concern.
Gibraltar is incredibly rich and full of surprises at any time of the year with a wide Array of plant life, many of which are native to the area, dolphins in the Bay of Gibraltar, and other marine mammals which include the Pilot Whales of the Strait, Killer Whales and even larger species such as Sperm Whales and a course the Rock Apes, Gibraltar also has its own unique bird, the Barbary Partridge
Marriott Company’s Expanding Into the Market of Kenya
The services offered by Marriott will be demanded in Kenya. Although Kenya is far from being called a rich country and a lot of people still live in the poverty, but the process of globalization, which will attract the new masses of tourists in this country, is one of the most significant factors that encourage the Marriott Company. Clients from highly developed countries, for example the USA, Western Europe, will be quite satisfied with the all kinds of services which are on the highest level in the Marriott hotels.
Marriott Company takes tourists from various countries and representatives from the smart society of Kenya as target audience of its hotels. Customers should be provided with all standard services and at the fixed standard price, which other Marriott hotels offer in other countries. And on the contrary, the premium level rooms and the VIP ones should be available to wealthy clients at much higher price.
All possible opportunities, potential strengths and weaknesses of the company, threats that can happen in this market should be ascertain by conducting the SWOT analyses.
Undeniable advantages of Marriott company is its orientation on the clients and well organized structure. This company gained many years experience in the hotel service market that will help the company to overcome all possible difficulties and drawbacks. The other advantage of this company is its worldwide fame of hotels and a great number of loyal clients, who are searching for a favorite hotel chain with a premium service quality and are ready to pay more for it while visiting the country.
Along with the number of advantages of Marriott company, there certain weaknesses can be singled out, that can become significant obstacles. One of such difficulties is a great number of hotels which are situated in different countries, and this fact makes the management rather complicated. The new market expanding increases the company’s income. But the increasing number of hotels not always lead to the prosperity and success of the company, but may also complicate its operations.
In this market Marriott company has a lot of opportunities. It can be the leader in hotel service industry, gaining the major part in this sphere, and provide more qualitative service for the population of Kenya at lower price. But Marriott may face with a threat which consists in the intensive competition between the already existing companies in this industry. One more threat can appear if the company will be accused in seizing the hotel market of Kenya and in being a foreign monopolist. To prevent such a situation, the company should be positioned on the activities which are based on the well-made promotion of the region where it is operated and its wellbeing.
Five Porter’s forces were used as the tool, which helps to determine the complex attractiveness of the hotel market, and it is important to ascertain the various forces on the Marriott performance. Due to the globalization the growth of the market is relatively high. The power of the customer is not very significant, as the clients are ready to pay more for the high quality hotel service. Due to the large investments, the entry barriers are also rather high in this market. These hotels will have the status of quite expensive, but at the same time in will present a wonderful place for its guests, who will enjoy as high level of comfort as they can get in their own countries. So, the Kenya’s market is rather attractive and the Marriott company should enter this market.

Kenya, the land where safari was born, also known as the cradle of mankind, is a land of unashamed splendor and great contrast. From the highlands of central Kenya to the great Rift valley and its resident lakes across to the second largest lake in the world; Lake Victoria further south to the elephants of Amboseli and a spectacular view of Africa’s highest point Mount Kilimanjaro and down to the cost where the shimmering white sands of the beaches of the Indian Ocean and ancient culture of millennia passed is still alluring to the traveler to this day.
The country is inhabited by over 40 different tribes and has over 76 different languages spoken. It’s also famous for its friendly and welcoming people.
Kenya safaris are designed to help a vacationer traverse the amazing landscape with the least hustle possible. On a safari you get to visit the savannahs of Kenya including the seventh wonder of the world “The great wildebeest migration†in the Maasai Mara, Kenya’s’ best known game reserve and arguably the best game reserve in the whole world. You get to see a plethora of wildlife including the “big five†elephant, rhino, leopard, lion and buffalo. For birding enthusiasts, there are over 1400 species recorded here, I can count over 20 species even before I leave my leafy home!
A popular add on to the holiday safari experience in Kenya is a beach stay on the wonderful tropical beaches of Mombasa, this is the perfect opportunity to relax in the sun and take in the relaxed atmosphere of Mombasa and its culture.
Kenya safaris offer a wonderful holiday for those wildlife lovers, they can be done to suit most budgets and offer a fascinating insight in to Kenya and its spectacular wildlife.
I dare not forget the cultural hub that Nairobi is, to the flamingo lakes Nakuru, Naivasha and Elementaita. You get to see endangered animals like the reticulated giraffe, rhino and Elephants of the Tsavo. To crown it all, the family of cats; lion, cheetah, and the elusive leopard. They just had to make “The big cat diary†in Kenya! On Safari!
Holiday Campers and camping enthusiasts will love Kenya safaris, from basic camping facilities to luxurious private luxury tented camps with all modern amenities in the bush hundreds of kilometers away from civilization, there is choice for everyone according to your budget. You can also reside in the luxurious lodges located in every game reserve and national park in the country.
A visit to Kenya is indeed a lifetime experience. Those who have been here always talk with a sense of nostalgia and make a point of visiting the country on any opportunity they can get – Kenya in Earnest Hemmingway’s words “unknowable, unimaginable, unbelievable…..and completely unforgettableâ€
Robert Murigi is the Safari Director Explorer Kenya Tours & Travel, a Kenya based environment friendly and responsible and sustainable tourism Safari Company. We organise safaris that are beneficial to the community around the area where they take place. Click here http://www.explorerkenya.com offers comprehensive safari information for all travelers
Marriott Company’s Expanding in Kenya
To decide whether Marriott should expand to Kenya’s market or not, the macroeconomic forces should be studied. The new hotel chain in Kenya’s economics may present such a way out of the difficult situation. Conducting different social responsibility programs Marriott can get the government support in all activities of the company.
Marriott is a sort of company that constantly applies new useful technologies, adopts different innovation, and it will promote these innovations working in Kenya. The nature and geographical position of Kenya should contribute to the development of the company, for there are many green areas and national parks rich in the varieties of the flora and fauna. This factor presents an advantage, and there should be organized the excursions to the safari or in the parks for tourists.
So, it is obvious that the Marriott company should do everything possible for the successful expansion to Kenya’s market. As a result of a deep analysis of different factors and forces, which influent the company’s performance, it should be mentioned that Marriott is going to gain a success and after some time it will become a leader in this sphere of the market in Kenya. This company is ready to control all the unexpected problems, and the expected investments in this project are rather high, so it is worth establishing all sorts of hotel innovation and service and expanding the company in Kenya.

Best Beaches – Lanzarote Hits Top List

Just a hundred miles from the coast of Africa, Lanzarote is one of the most popular islands for European holidaymakers, not just for the traditional summer weeks but for winter too, as the weather for the island – often in the 70’s even in December and January – make it the ideal destination for tourists from Northern Europe to head to to escape the winter blues.
And being able to relax on the beach and catch some rays over the Christmas and New Year festivities is enough in itself to tempt many to take a holiday in Lanzarote then.
But now a leading internet site has confirmed what many holidaymakers to Lanzarote already knew – that not only are the beaches great but one Lanzarote beach ranks among the best in the world.
The site points out that while Lanzarote is just a hundred miles off Africa, it is Spanish, and describe the locals as ‘passionate’.
And of Lanzarote’s 90 beaches they say the best one, which ranks among the best in the world, is on the south of the island, at Caleta del Congrio, with an 87 per cent privacy rating.
They also suggest that those who like wind surfing should head for a different Lanzarote beach – the four mile long Famara Beach.
Other areas that were in the top beach list include Barbados, Turkey, Paros in Greece, Loreto in Mexico and Malibu in California.
World class beaches and water sports aren’t all that await Lanzarote tourists though. Puerto Del Carmen for example, which is one of the island’s most popular towns for holidaymakers, is a hub of excitement for many family activities.
And if the Lanzarote tourist is looking for a sports filled holiday rather than a family one, Puerto Del Carmen offers sports enthusiasts a wide range of activities. Locally owned diving shops often take tourists on amazing underwater adventures to various places around the island. Diving schools are available for those who wish to learn to dive or snorkel.
Windsurfing, swimming, boating, jet skiing and paragliding are also very popular water sports enjoyed by many locals and tourists. Sports enthusiasts also can enjoy golfing, cycling, running, hiking, camping and other local activities, including the Ironman competition.
Costa Teguise, another area favoured by tourists taking holidays in Lanzarote, is the smallest of the three large resorts on the island. It is about 6 miles northeast of the capital city Arrecife. The entire resort is built on former lava fields and saltpans. The resort consists of several apartment blocks, bungalows and villas. Primary attractions are the golf course, a marina, commercial shops and entertainment. Many visitors enjoy the water park in the outskirts of the resort.
Playa Blanca is a quieter area of the island, and often preferred by those who take their Lanzarote holiday in a villa rather than in a hotel.
Once a small fishing port. Playa Blanca is very popular with families due to its size and many family friendly beaches. Two more beaches were recently added to Playa Blanca to help make up for the lack of space on the main central beach. Along the well maintained and manicured streets there are several shops, restaurants and clubs. Lanzarote’s Playa Blanca offers many sports and attractions for tourists of all ages.
But above all, if Lanzarote should be a magnet for any particular type of tourist, it has to be the beach lover – there’s 90 to choose from including one of the best in the world today!
Travel destinations: South Africa – Part 5
The most asked question by anyone interested in visiting South Africa is; ‘Is it safe?’ The answer is of course it depends where you are going. And one of the safest and most beautiful places is Montagu, in the Klein Karoo. Only two and a half hours drive from Cape Town, Montagu is nestled in a quiet valley surrounded by mountains. It is a fruit and grape growing area, offering a wide choice of wineries to visit, great rock climbing and a hot springs spa. I came to Montagu from Canada to visit a relative and here I am still. The people are friendly and while there is plenty to do, it remains a small dorp (village).
For anyone interested in visiting there is a very helpful local information centre called the Info Centre. Visitors are invited to come and participate in community programs which range from a Day Care Centre, a garden project called, Huis Tuintjies (house gardens), a rape and alcohol couseling program, just to name a few. It offers a wonderful opportunity to get involved in the local community.
The hot springs is located at the Avalon Hot Springs Resort and here locals and visitors together enjoy bounty of the earth. The Resort has a 24hour cafe, two great restaurants and excellent accommodation. Montagu has a large selection of accommodation facilites catering to all pocket books. There are two backpackers, bed and breakfasts, boutique hotels, farm accommodations and camping. About 30 km out of town in the area known as the Koo, there is a fabulous farm that takes guests on a tractor ride up the mountain, from where you can see for miles and miles. It is a fun ride culminating in a braai (barbeque) and the consumption of Muskadel. Muskadel is a rich local wine drink that is unique to the area, very similar to port. It is delicious!
Barrydale, which is about an hour drive away offers an eclectic selection of small shops, fine dining and the drive there is stunning. Another town to visit from Montagu, is Swellendam, about a 45 minute drive. Swellendam is known for its many restaurants, and local residents often go there for a night out. It is also home to Wildebraam Liquors which conjures up divine liquors from all kinds of unusual sources. They make a sage liquor which is definitely worth tryng.
One can also drive to Hermanus to see the whales that visit the area mid September to early November. It is only a one and a half hour drive and again the beauty of the scenery is breathtaking.
All roads are paved and light on traffic making driving anywhere a pleasure. All in all this part of the Western Cape is worth a visit.
Buy into the exotic Morocco Property Market

There can be few countries in the world which had suffered a worse press than Morocco over the years. This slightly mysterious and enchanting land is seen by many as the gateway between Africa and Europe, and while it has taken some time for the tourist market to pick up, we are seeing signs that the country is on the up. There are more and more tourists visiting year on year and ambitious plans to expand the tourism sector still further. So what is happening on the ground in Morocco, why the big change in image? The real catalyst for the recent change seems to have been the appointment of King Mohammed VI, who took the reigns in 1999 determined to push Morocco more into the limelight and increase the profile and wealth of the country. The focus on the tourism sector came about in 2001 which saw the release of Vision 2010, a very ambitious plan to increase tourist number 5 fold and create 600,000 new jobs in the tourism sector. At the time the country was more of an attraction for the so called hippy brigade, but since the announcement of the plans there has been a massive increase in the more traditional area of tourism the mass market have arrived in Morocco! While the country has a very active history, having been under the control of both the French and Spanish at various times it has always remained true to its Arab roots. Morocco is a strong Islamic country which many see as part of the reason for the creation of many urban myths, rumours and untruths about the region. Until recently the Islamic way of life was very much a mystery to those in Europe and other parts of the world, but as cultures converge and interest increases, Morocco seems set to benefit greatly from increased interest in the region. In an interesting development, many are actually comparing the current situation in Morocco with that of Dubai, prior to the massive investment programs which are under way. The land has culture, it has history and there is most definitely room for improvement in the standard of living for many. A number of those property developers who were in Dubai in the early days have moved on to Morocco, where we are seeing a vast number of property developments springing up on a regular basis, with billions of dollars being invested. As you would expect from a modern day tourist attraction, we are also seeing the building of a large number of golf courses and surrounding developments. It may surprise many to learn that gold is one of the more popular pastimes in the country, and actually hosts a number of well known golf tournaments. It is also interesting to note that the ruling government in Morocco have appreciated the need for an understanding tax situation at an early stage, preferring to attract travellers and developers rather than hit them with high taxes. Morocco has more to earn from an increasing tourist trade than tax income at this moment in time. This article was written by Adam Samuel of Nubricks.com an overseas property blog where you can find more articles about Morocco properties.
