Innovetive Ways of Discovering South Africa With Pancras Malani
If we accept that tourism sector is to become the biggest employer in the world, we must respect and accept the wishes of our tourists.
Tourists take a decision to pay their hard earned money to go on vacation, on business trips or simply for philanthropic reasons. It is therefore very important for all people who directly or indirectly benefit from the movement of tourists to accept that tourists are the deciders on the organization and execution of their holiday activities.
Today’s tourist is very much informed on what to see and experience at a particular destination and it is these information that push someone to go to A place before B or keep on coming back to a place where the experience overpassed expectation.
Traditionally speaking, a touirist is driven like a cart, having done nothing in the preparation of their hilidays and they are often disappointed when they arrive at the dream of their destination.
In order to minimize the comfrotation between tourists and the operators representatives, i came up with the solution to start a tour company That i called AMIS TOURS, meaning "friends tours". I always take my tourists as my friends and we all know that we offer our friends and recieve from them the best gifts. AMIS TOURS will always place any tourist at the drawing up of their holidays. My job will be the facilitation not to impose them what to see. Some of itineraries are outdated and don’t go with seasonality of the area to be visited. You can’t for example send people to view whales in Summer in South Africa. People should be consulted fully explained about what they can see and what is impossible. With AMIS TOURS It is no longer a question of filling a day’s excursion but rather offering what meets expectation. I sit down and discuss with my employers (my tourists).
In addition to the consultation process, my tourists have option and right to stay with me rather that staying in expensive hotels. I want them to discover the way normal and simple people live. If they can’t all fit into my house, they will stay at my close relatives and friends. There is a saying in Kinyarwanda that "where people aren’t stingy, six people can fit on a rubbit skin". I will never deprive though the wish of friends who need another type of accommodation and meals. they will eat out if they want, they will sleep in a five star facility they can but whatever choice thay make, i will extensively consult with them before taking their decision, i will consult with them when they come over and i will respect their wishes. Obviously, i will never handle a big group in order to keep up with my promise and commitment.
With my new approach to touring, anyone who wish to visit South Africa and Southern Africa as a whole can afford it and do it their way not operators way.
